The Shoe Box Appeal
Every year for the past 4 years the Branch has taken on an appeal or has supported a worthwhile cause.
This year we started an appeal that we intend to continue until our servicemen and women no longer have to suffer in the extremes of Afghanistan and Iraq, we started the shoe Box Appeal. From the simple collection of necessaries and goodies to be sent to them, it has mushroomed into a cottage industry that gets larger by the day. To date we have sent over 2000 shoe boxes to our troops and have received some very touching letters from the recipients. Always on the lookout for more contacts, branch member Ellie Bland chats up every service person in uniform that she sees.
If you have any contacts in the Armed Forces overseas and would like us to include their unit then please let us know. We are getting representations from RBL Branches Nationwide asking us for details so that they can start their own appeals so if you want to get involved contact Ellie on 01249 824992
If you wish to donate items to be sent, then telephone Ellie for a list of what we need. Our collection point in Calne is Ellies shop, Sophisticatz on Beach Terrace.
The Branch now has so many donors to thank that we cannot mention them all by name but we do appreciate what you have given be it goods or cash and our troops most certainly do thank you.
