Local Campaigns
Calne Branch has started a campaign locally to enable veterans that are in receipt of War Pensions to get priority treatment from local NHS Doctors surgeries for the injuries/illnesses that they get their pensions for.
It became apparent that the reason most pensioners are not receiving priority is that our surgeries were not aware of this provision so the directive dated 1997 was shown to the practice managers who immediately agreed to honour it. A poster was made pointing out this priority and all of the surgeries in Calne agreed to display it in their waiting rooms. The campaign has been seized upon by other practices and Legion Branches and we hope that it will spread throughout Wiltshire.
